Why Bullseye Cannot Win Sports Day 2024 and 2025
Tldr: The Management is responsible, as they do not want Bullseye winning too many times.
Bullseye, the Sports House in Nobel International School, had won so many Sports Days, Nobel Cups and Founder's Runs. Since 2014, Bullseye has made victory a habit, causing alarm among the management. The Management had begun a quest beginning with Nobel Cup 2016 and Sports Day 2017 to crack down on Bullseye's expansionist victories and put a stop to the flames of victory fanned by Bullseye members.
Nobel International School has 3 main events since its founding:
Nobel Cup, founded in 2013 as a Student Council-led initiative, focusing on team sports;
Founder's Run, a cross country charity race started in 2016;
Sports Day, beginning with the first edition in 2006.
The victories of Bullseye are as follows:
Sports Day: 2014, 2015, 2016, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023.
Founder's Run: 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025.
Nobel Cup: 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2022, 2023.
On four occasions, namely 2014, 2015, 2022 and 2023, Bullseye had won all the major tournaments in the same calendar year. This cause fright and flight and fear to the management, as they had lost control of Bullseye.
The management had decided to put this nonsense to a stop.
It is understandable that this may be demotivating to Bullseye, but however, only with the dissemination of this information can Bullseye members outsmart the management team and cruise the house to victory.
2023 SPORTS DAY: THE VICTORY OF BULLSEYE
The 2023 Sports Day is the first Sports Day to be held since the Covid 19 pandemic started. The Sports Day was planned to be held on 23rd June 2023, with no Founder's Run and Nobel Cup attached to the score system. The only score attached will be the Telematch Competition.
A heatwave forced the Sports Day to be postponed, causing many events to be delayed. In response to this, the Management decided to re-include Founder's Run, Nobel Cup and other associated events back to the Sports Day tally. This ultimately resulted in a victory for Bullseye.
For the Founder's Run, the Management included a Virtual Run where each km run by every individual will contribute to the House Points. This resulted in Bullseye winning, and as such, dominating the scores till the Sports Day 2023, which was held on 20th November 2023. Bullseye won the Founder's Run, Nobel Cup and Sports Day in the same year, repeating a feat held in 2014, 2015, 2022 and 2023.
The victory of Bullseye alarmed the management, as it confirmed a five year victory streak, where the Sports Day held before Covid 19 begun (the 2019 Sports Day) and following the start of the pandemic; the 2023 Sports Day, were both won by Bullseye, validating all informal and unvalidated Bullseye victories in 2020 and 2022, including the gap in 2021. This five year streak was planned back in 2014 by Lau Wei Yiang and Caleb Chuang, fulfilling a long-held dream by all the Bullseye members. The support of Chee Fooi Foon to the Sports Day helped boost the standings of Bullseye, and will play an important role for years to come.
20TH ANNIVERSARY SPORTS DAY: THE VICTORY OF TOUCHDOWN
The 20th Anniversary Sports Day is an anniversary celebration of Nobel International School. This anniversary celebration had been anticipated by all Nobellians. Coincidentally, 2024 is also the 10th Anniversary of Bullseye's first Sports Day victory during the 10th Annual Sports Day in 2014.
In 2014, Brian Ong and Emily Liew, as house captains of Bullseye, led Bullseye to victory. This victory soon paved the way for other Bullseye members to win the Sports Days in 2015 and 2016, and the 2014 and 2015 Nobel Cups. Withholding a loss in 2017 and 2018's Sports Day, Bullseye still managed to win the Nobel Cups that year, and that culminated in the 2019-2023 victory streak.
The 20th Anniversary Sports Day is an important celebration for Bullseye. A Bullseye victory in the 20th Anniversary Sports Day will be a celebration of all Bullseye members. We want to honor every single Bullseye member, past and present, cunning or cool, clever or dumb; everyone in the diversity of Bullseye who had made the victory so memorable. We want to pay tribute to all Bullseye members, celebrating the anniversaries of Bullseye and Nobel in a grand celebration.
The victory in 2024 would have had lengthened the existing 2019-2023 victory streak, bringing a total of six years. While all reasons relating to why Bullseye should win 2024 is the same as 2023, the only major difference is that this victory will celebrate the anniversary of Nobel and Bullseye.
The 2024 Founder's Run on 27th April was the first big test of Bullseye since the 2023 Sports Day. This resulted in all doubts, a Bullseye victory. Bullseye managed to perform very well until the final day of competition, 2nd July 2024.
At the start of the 20th Anniversary Sports Day, Bullseye instantly dropped to third place, while Touchdown, which was third, overtook Bullseye. It was soon discovered that the management inflated the scores for first-second-third placing from 10-5-3 to 100-50-20, in order to prevent the Founder's Run from dominating the entire score system, as it did in 2019, 2020 and 2023.
Three scores were displayed on Sports Day, and our team managed to get hold of all the scores. What was shocking, however, was the performance of Bullseye in the athletics events. Our team took the final score and removed the judging events as announced by Mr Meshach, turning the Touchdown lead into a Bullseye win. The management had used the judging events to block Bullseye had it passed the athletic points hurdle. Bullseye managed to do so and regain the lead in the competition, resulting in the management conveniently using the judging events to block Bullseye.
Ahead of the 20th Anniversary Sports Day, the management studied the 2023 Sports Day results and concluded that the only way to stop Bullseye is to change the format of competition. The management can award judging events as they please, weaponizing the march, dance and banner to block Bullseye should it do well in the athletics events. They did not want Bullseye to win after being horrified over the five year victory streak. This brought an end to five years of Bullseye victory, awarding the championship to Touchdown.
UNLEASH SPORTS DAY 2025: THE SLAMDUNK WIN
2025 would have had been different depending on the 20th Anniversary Sports Day result.
If Bullseye had won the 20th Anniversary Sports Day, the year 2025, like 2024 and 2023, will be an addition of another victory year to the Bullseye streak. This would have had made a total of seven victory years. There was no major difference in adding this round; Bullseye momentum would have had fuelled this victory streak, or less, a low key anniversary of Wawasan 2020, delayed to 2025.
The 2025 Sports Day saw the management removing the Founder's Run from the Sports Day tally because of the potential of Founder's Run to give Bullseye an added advantage. Without the Founder's Run, Bullseye would not have any strong pathways to victory and must find points from other avenues to regain its lead. Had the Founder's Run been added to the Sports Day, Bullseye would win.
The Management had planned for all able bodied and professional athletes to be awarded away from Bullseye, giving thus the 2025 Sports Day result. It was a defeat of Bullseye athletically and competitively.
HOW TO WIN THE 2026 SPORTS DAY
To win the 2026 Sports Day, Bullseye must be able to train its athletes well, since the weakness is on athletic training. It is recommended that the Bullseye members lengthen the time of training and go the extra mile, using the December school holidays to do the training.
The Bullseye members must also be aware that aside from battling the other three houses, they also have to confront the management, which can sabotage the score if Bullseye is leading. This means the true threat is over when the Sports Day competitions are over.
